The NBA moratorium lifted at 12:01 PM ET today, LeBron James is legally allowed to sign with any team on earth, and according to his agent, he absolutely will not be doing that anytime soon.
Shams Charania reported for ESPN that LeBron has already informed the Lakers he won’t be back — Rich Paul made the calls, all 27 of them, and ESPN now has a six-team shortlist: Warriors, Cavaliers, Heat, 76ers, Timberwolves, Nuggets. The Cavs are the frontrunner. Multiple people have used the phrase “looking more and more like the scenario to beat.” And yet, per Rich Paul himself, on Forbes’ Mark Medina’s X feed on July 4th: “I don’t think this happens anytime soon” and “I don’t think it’ll be in the next few days.”
