AJ Styles said on his own podcast that he’s “never seen anybody more ready to be a champion right now” than LA Knight, and when a guy who’s shared a ring with basically every world champion of the last fifteen years says that, you say thank you and get out of the way.
That’s exactly what Styles told his podcast audience, and he didn’t stop there. He said Knight can represent WWE “flawlessly” in interviews and media appearances too, not just win matches and hold a belt over his head. That’s AJ Styles putting his name on LA Knight’s title case in full: the wrestling, the mic, the whole package.
Styles doesn’t hand that out for free.
This isn’t even the first time he’s said it. Back in June, on The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, Styles said he hopes Knight gets to be a world champion, that Knight has “earned it,” and that “time’s coming and it waits for no one.” Two different podcasts, two months apart, same conclusion. A guy this decorated doesn’t repeat himself by accident.
The timing is what makes this worth writing about instead of just retweeting it. LA Knight is already circling Roman Reigns, and he spent the August 3 episode of Raw calling the champ a fraud to his face, telling him he leans on The Bloodline instead of ever fighting anybody one-on-one. Reigns didn’t grant him a thing, either — he waved off Knight’s résumé and told him to get in the back of the line. This wasn’t some random undercard beef; it was a guy positioning himself for the top of the card while the company works through the SummerSlam card fallout, and Styles’ comments landed right in the middle of it.
WWE doesn’t let a moment like that breathe on accident.
I’ll admit the skeptic in me has a fair point buried in here. Reigns has already beaten Knight twice, at Crown Jewel in 2023 and again at the Royal Rumble in 2024, and Styles has praised plenty of guys on plenty of podcasts without WWE handing them a world title the next month. Locker room respect and a creative team’s actual plans are two separate documents, and only one of them gets written down anywhere. Fans are already treating this as the signal anyway, not just a nice thing a future Hall of Famer said out loud:

Knight’s been with WWE for over five years as one of its most popular acts without ever winning a world title, and my sister has been blowing up the family group chat insisting his case is basically closed, so I’m not exactly fighting my priors here. When AJ Styles and my little sister land on the same conclusion, I don’t need a third opinion.
